Five Maine players suspended after music dispute led to broken jaw

Men's College Basketball, Maine Black Bears

The suspension of five Maine basketball players stemmed from a locker room altercation that left one player with a broken jaw, according to a police report.

Wes Myers, the team's leading scorer, punched teammate Marko Pirovic after the players started arguing and grabbing each other, the Bangor Daily News reported.

The incident, which occured on Feb. 14, stemmed from a dispute over music. Pirovic was listening to music and Myers asked him to turn it off. Pirovic refused and the pair start fighting.

The fight left Pirovic with a broken jaw and missing teeth. He underwent surgery to repair his jaw and have it wired shut for six to eight weeks.

Both players were suspended. Jaquan McKennon, Ilija Stojiljkovic and Dusan Majstorovic were also suspended indefinitely for telling head trainer Ryan Taylor initially that Pirovic "fell in the shower."
