Gibson scores 22, North Texas tops Texas A&M Commerce 102-53

DENTON, Texas -- Umoja Gibson scored 22 points -- making six from 3-point distance as North Texas tied a program record for 3s on the way to a 102-53 victory over Division II Texas A&M Commerce Wednesday night.

The Mean Green is off to a 5-0 start this season, shooting 56 percent from the floor (19-34) with 19 3-pointers -- tying the 22-year-old program record for 3s in a game. Jorden Duffy added 19 points, Michael Miller a season-high 18 and Ryan Woodridge 14.

Duffy scored a pair of 3s and two jumpers in the lane as North Texas scored on its first six possessions while building a 13-2 lead.

North Texas held the Lions scoreless for the last 3:36 of the first half, leading 53-27 at the break.

Gibson knocked down three from distance as North Texas opened the second half on a 16-7 run.

Trey Conrod led the Lions with 12 points and Reggie Reid added 10.
