Archibald's 17 PTs help lead La. Tech past Sam Houston St.

RUSTON, La. -- Amorie Archibald scored 17 points and Anthony Duruji scored 12 and Louisiana Tech beat back Sam Houston State 76-69 on Sunday.

Louisiana Tech (2-0) built a 45-33 halftime lead, but after intermission, the Bearkats went on a 14-2 run and grabbed a 52-51 lead. Chad Bowie's layup made it 56-53 in favor of the Bearkats with 9:43 to go, but JaColby Pemberton's 3-pointer 19 seconds later tied it, Oliver Powell made a pair of free throws and the Bulldogs led the rest of the way.

Pemberton and Powell finished with 11 points each and Mo Muhammed grabbed 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Cameron Delaney led San Houston State (2-1) with 20 points, Josh Delaney and Chad Bowie each scored 12 and Zach Nutall scored 10.

Louisiana Tech now is 31-5 all-time in home openers at the Thomas Assembly Center on Karl Malone Court, having won 20 its last 21 and own a 12-game winning streak in such games.
