Kohl, Central Connecticut St. beat Florida A&M 89-75

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica -- Tyler Kohl had 20 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists and Central Connecticut State never trailed in its 89-75 win over Florida A&M on Sunday night in the Jamaica Classic.

Kohl made a career-high 10 free throws on 11 attempts and Jamir Coleman had 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Deion Bute scored 14 and Ian Krishnan added 13 for CCSU (3-2).

Coleman made a 3-pointer to open the scoring and Bute scored six points as the Blue Devils took a 13-2 lead less than five minutes in. Bute's layup with 4:29 left in the first half made it 37-14.

FAMU (2-2) used a 15-4 run -- during which CCSU went 0 for 3 from the field and committed three turnovers -- to trim its deficit to 74-65 with 3:35 to play but got no closer.

Justin Ravenel led the Rattlers with 14 points and Rod Melton scored 13. Ravenel made 11-of-14 free throws but just 1 of 14 from the field, including 1 of 8 from 3-point range.
