Andree scores 31, Lehigh rides hot half past Monmouth, 85-61

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- Pat Andree scored a career-high 31 points in his home state to lead Lehigh to an 85-61 win over Monmouth in a season-opener on Tuesday night.

The New Jersey native hit 9 of 15 shots from the floor, including 6 of 10 from 3-point range and scored 17 of his points in the first half.

The Mountain Hawks built a six-point lead at intermission, 36-30, and outscored the Hawks by 18 points in the second half. Defensively, they held Monmouth to 33.9 percent shooting from the field (19 of 56), including just 4 of 21 from distance.

Kyle Leufroy became the 36th Lehigh player to reach 1,000 career points with his 11-point effort. Cohen Jordan scored 15 points and Nic Lynch added 10.

Deion Hammond scored 21 points the lead Monmouth but was the only player to reach double figures.
