Men's College Basketball, Jackson State Tigers, Grambling Tigers

JACKSON, Miss. -- Anthony Gaston and Ivy Smith Jr. scored 16 points apiece and Grambling rolled to a 72-45 victory on Saturday night to snap Jackson State's six-game winning streak in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

Grambling (8-12, 4-3) has won four straight while Jackson State (9-1, 6-1) drops a half-game back of Arkansas-Pine Bluff atop the conference standings.

Gaston and Smith each made six field goals, with Smith grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds. Shirmane Thomas added 12 points for Grambling, which shot 51 percent from the floor. Reserves Axel Mpoyo chipped in 13 points and Diontae Jones had 10.

Jackson State was dismal throughout, shooting 15 of 60 from the field (25 percent) -- including 20 missed 3-point attempts -- and had 16 fewer rebounds. It was the lowest scoring output for Jackson State since its 76-45 loss to Maryland of the Big Ten Conference on Nov. 20.
