McKnight, Arkansas-Pine Bluff beat Alcorn State 71-59

PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Martaveous McKnight had 25 points and six assists, Charles Jackson made five 3-pointers and scored 17 points, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff beat Alcorn State 71-59 on Monday night for its fifth straight victory.

McKnight, who had a game-winning 3-pointer with 12 seconds remaining in overtime against Southern on Saturday, was 7 of 14 from the field and made 9 of 14 free throws against the Braves.

Travon Harper added 11 points with nine rebounds for UAPB (5-14, 5-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference). The Golden Lions were 11 of 28 from distance and 16 of 25 at the stripe.

UAPB went on an 11-3 run for a 23-15 lead and took a 30-26 lead into halftime. The Golden Lions started the second half with eight straight points during a 20-6 run for a 50-32 lead.

A.J. Mosby and Yalen Reed each scored 10 points for Alcorn State (5-14, 1-5). The Braves were just 18-of-54 shooting (33.3 percent).
