Alcorn State overtakes Alabama A&M for 80-60 win

NORMAL, Ala. -- Maurice Howard poured in 22 points, A.J. Mosby added 20 more and Alcorn State cruised to an 80-60 win over Alabama A&M on Saturday.

Howard drained six 3-pointers and finished 7 for 10 from the field and Mosby shot 9 for 15 while hauling in seven rebounds as Alcorn State (10-17, 6-8 Southwestern Athletic Conference) dominated the glass 43-25 to pick up its third-straight win.

Trailing 40-39 at the break, Alcorn State took control in the second half, getting a jumper from Dante Sterling to spark a 10-0 run to make it 54-47 with 13:36 to play and put the Braves on top for good.

Yalen Reed had 15 points and nine rebounds and Troymain Crosby added 12 and 11 for Alcorn State, which hit 54 percent of its 56 shots.

Tracey Burnett scored 15 points to lead Alabama A&M (2-24, 2-11), Arthur Johnson had 13 points and Jalen Reeder got 12.

The Bulldogs have lost nine in a row.
