Blackston's 32 pts sends Prairie View A&M past Alabama A&M

NORMAL, Ala. -- Gary Blackston scored a career-high 32 points with eight rebounds and five assists and Prairie View A&M beat Alabama A&M 88-67 on Monday night.

Marcus Merriweather made a pair of free throws and Arthur Johnson followed with a 3-pointer and Alabama A&M led 27-21 with 5:37 to go before intermission.

Dennis Jones made a layup and a jump shot and that started Prairie View's 20-2 run to close the half. Alabama A&M finished the half committing four turnovers and missing all six of its shots from the field.

Prairie View A&M (8-15, 5-4 Southwestern Athletic) led by double digits the rest of the way. Blackston made all 11 of his foul shots, Jones scored 18 and Troy Thompson had 15. The Panthers were 32 of 62 from the field and missed only four of 22 foul shots.

Evan Wiley led Alabama A&M (2-20, 2-7) with 16 points and Johnson scored 12. The Bulldogs were just 19-of-54 shooting.
