McClanahan, Savannah State beat Norfolk State 104-99 in OT

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Dexter McClanahan had a career-high 37 points and Savannah State held off Norfolk State in overtime for a 104-99 win on Monday night.

The Tigers (8-13, 5-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) scored the opening basket of overtime and led the rest of the way. McClanahan's free throws with 20 seconds left solidified the lead at 102-97 and Jahir Cabeza punctuated their fourth straight conference win on a dunk with six seconds to go.

Savannah State trailed for the first 14 minutes of the second half and then took its first lead of the half at 76-74 after an 8-0 run. The teams went back and forth for the remainder of regulation with Norfolk State's Alex Long forcing overtime when he tied at 89 with seven seconds to go.

McClanahan finished 7 of 13 from 3-point range and grabbed eight rebounds. Alante Fenner, Austin Dasent, Zach Sellers and Javaris Jenkins added 14 points each.

Nic Thomas had 22 points and Long had 20 to lead the Spartans (4-16, 2-3). Stavian Allen added 15 and Kyle Williams 14.
