Kendley, Carr help Morgan State cruise past Howard, 97-61

BALTIMORE -- Tiwian Kendley scored 27 points and Phillip Carr had his 12th double-double of the season to help Morgan State beat Howard 97-61 on Monday night and snap a two-game skid.

It was Morgan State's highest scoring output since beating Norfolk State 100-94 in overtime on Jan. 31, 2010.

Carr finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds and five assists and moved into eighth on the program's career list with 672 rebounds. Kendley, who was suspended for the first 10 games of the season following a violation of team policies, has scored at least 20 points in 11 of 13 games this season.

Kendley converted a 3-point play when he was fouled on a dunk and then fed Martez Cameron for a layup to give the Bears (9-14, 5-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) a 9-7 lead and Howard trailed the rest of the way. The Bison (7-18, 4-5) shot 28 percent (7 of 25) in the first half and went into the break trailing 53-27.

RJ Cole hit five 3-pointers and finished with 30 points on 8-of-15 shooting for Howard. The rest of the Bison players made 12 of 37 (32 percent) from the field.

Howard had its four-game win streak snapped.

Morgan State had 21 assists -- its most since it had 21 in an 83-43 win over Coppin State on Feb. 1, 2016 -- on 30 field goals.
