McGowens, Edmead help NC A&T beat Coppin State 60-47

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Davaris McGowens scored 13 points and Aaren Edmead added 10 to help North Carolina A&T beat Coppin State 60-47 on Monday night.

Devante Boykins hit a 3-pointer and Edmead added a layup and a 3 during a 10-3 spurt to open the second half that gave NC A&T (10-8, 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) a 37-24 lead. Kameron Langley stole it and fed McGowens for a layup to cap the run and the Aggies led by double figures the rest of the way.

Both teams shot below 36 percent from the field and less than 26 percent from 3-point range. NC A&T made 16 of 19 free throws (84.2 percent), while the Eagles hit just 6 of 12, and scored 17 points off 14 Coppin State turnovers.

Karonn Davis had 11 points, on 4-of-15 shooting, and Adam Traore and Kent Auslander scored 10 points apiece for Coppin State (1-19, 1-4).
