Western Kentucky keeps pace in C-USA, beats FAU 75-63

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Taveion Hollingsworth scored 20 points and Western Kentucky held onto a share of second place in the Conference USA standings with a 75-63 win over Florida Atlantic on Thursday night.

The Hilltoppers entered the game tied with Old Dominion and trailing Middle Tennessee. All three teams won Thursday.

Florida Atlantic trailed at the half, 35-34, but hit back-to-back jumpers to start the second half to take a 38-35 lead and the Owls didn't surrender the lead for good until Lamonte Bearden put Western Kentucky in front with a free throw and Justin Johnson followed it with back-to-back jumpers for a 51-46 lead.

Hollingsworth hit 8 of 12 from the field to lead the Hilltoppers (17-7, 9-2). Dwight Coleby added 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Johnson contributed 12 points and nine boards.

Gerdarius Troutman finished with 21 points to lead FAU (10-14, 4-8). Justin Massey added 13 points and Ronald Delph and Anthony Adger each added 10.
