Moneke, Shorts lift Davis over Northridge 63-56

DAVIS, Calif. -- Chima Moneke and TJ Shorts II combined for 31 points, 25 in the second half, and UC Davis defeated CSU Northridge 63-56 on Thursday night for the Aggies' 18th-straight home win.

Siler Schneider added 14 points for Davis (13-7, 4-2 Big West Conference), which has won nine-straight over the Matadors (5-15, 2-3) and now lead the series 20-19.

Down 26-23 at the half after scoring the last seven points, the Aggies scored the first 11 of the second half, making 5 of their first 8 shots. Moneke's 3-point play 1 1/2 minutes in put Davis on top for good. The Matadors missed their first shot and then had five turnovers before the drought ended.

Moneke's layup had the lead at 51-40 with 7:57 to play before Northridge went on a 12-4 run. Michael Warren's 3-point play with 3:25 to go pulled the Matadors within 55-52.

Warren had the last nine points for CSUN but five straight misses allowed the Aggies to secure the win at the foul line. Warren finished with 20 points.
