UC Davis outlasts Cal Poly in triple overtime 92-84

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Michael Onyebalu had 24 points, Siler Schneider scored 16 and Rogers Printup added 15 points as UC Davis outlasted Cal Poly 92-84 in triple overtime on Thursday night.

In the third overtime, Schneider scored the first four points, and Onyebalu added a layup to put the Aggies (17-9, 8-4 Big West Conference) up six. Cal Poly never recovered, and could only get within four points before falling.

Schneider hit two free throws with 11 seconds left in regulation to tie it at 64. Victor Joseph brought it up the floor and attempted to put the Mustangs (8-18, 3-9) ahead, but his layup bounced out.

Near the end of a low-scoring first overtime period, Jakub Niziol blocked a TJ Shorts II jumper that would have put the Aggies ahead.

The cold shooting continued into the second overtime period, as neither team scored a point until Schneider broke the deadlock on a layup with 1:38 left. Luke Meikle answered with two free throws before Onyebalu nailed a 3-pointer to put the Aggies back up. Meikle once again responded, this time with a 3-pointer of his own, which sent the game to a third overtime.
