Colgate rallies to top Holy Cross 59-53, earns No. 2 seed

HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Sean O'Brien scored 12 of his 13 points in the second half, surpassing 1,000 for his career in the process, and Colgate overcame a miserable start to defeat Holy Cross 59-53 on Saturday and secure the No. 2 seed for the Patriot League Tournament.

The Red Raiders (17-12, 12-6) shot 19 percent (4 of 21) and had 10 turnovers in the first hall, falling behind 22-12. In the second half they were 8 of 17 on 3-pointers -- after a 1 for 8 first half -- and shot 57 percent with just two turnovers. Their 11th win at home was the most in 23 years.

Jack Ferguson hit a 3-pointer and Jordan Burns followed with a 3-point play and 3-pointer for a 9-0 run that gave Colgate a 48-40 lead with 5:15 to play.

Jacob Grandison led the Crusaders (11-18, 8-10), who shot 41 percent in the second half, with 16.
