Colgate pulls away late from Loyola (MD) in 77-72 win

HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Jordan Burns scored 20 points and Dana Batt made all seven of his shots and scored 16 and Colgate beat Loyola (MD) 77-72 on Saturday.

Andre Walker made a jumper and a 3-pointer on consecutive possessions and the Greyhounds led 69-68 with 2:13 left. Jordan Swopshire countered with a pair of free throws, and Burns made a 3 with 52 seconds left and Colgate (10-9, 5-3 Patriot League) never trailed again. Colgate made 4 of 6 free throws in the last 27 seconds to wrap it up.

Loyola (5-14, 3-5) led 36-29 at halftime before the Raiders went on a 15-6 run after the break for a 44-42 lead with 16:13 to play. Batt scored six during the run and Burns had five points.

Burns missed just 3 of 9 shots and Colgate finished 25-of-46 shooting (54 percent) from the field. Jordan Robinson added 13 points for the Raiders.

Walker led the Greyhounds with 22 points, Chuck Champion scored 14, Cam Gregory, 13 and Andrew Kostecka 11.
