BU carries 2nd-half run to 81-65 win over Lafayette

BOSTON -- Javante McCoy scored 21 points and Cedric Hankerson 17 and Boston University defeated Lafayette 81-65 on Wednesday.

The Terriers (13-15, 7-10 Patriot League) seized control of the game with a 17-2 run to start the second half, led 53-43 with 14:04 left and were never threatened. McCoy made a pair of 3-pointers and Hankerson and Walter Whyte each added 3s and BU was up 67-50 with 8:07 remaining.

Justin Jaworski and Lukas Jarrett made back-to-back 3s and Lafayette led 37-22 after a 16-4 run before BU closed with a 14-4 spurt in the last six minutes of the first half and went to intermission down 41-36.

Max Mahoney and Whyte each scored 14 for BU.

Alex Petrie led Lafayette (9-19, 7-10) with 13 points and Paulius Zalys scored 11. Matt Klinewski grabbed nine rebounds.
