Mahoney's 27 pts leads Boston past Loyola (MD) 64-55

BOSTON -- Max Mahoney scored 27 points on 12-of-14 shooting with seven rebounds and Boston University beat Loyola (MD) 64-55 on Wednesday night.

Mahoney -- who was two off his career-high -- made more than half the Terriers' 22 field goals. His 7-0 run gave BU a 45-39 lead with 11:28 remaining and Loyola never got closer than five points the rest of the way.

Sam Norton made a pair of free throws and Loyola trailed 53-48 with 4:35 left but went scoreless for nearly four minutes and missed eight shots -- six coming on two different possessions. Mahoney made a layup and Javante McCoy's 3-pointer made it a 10-point game with 57 seconds left.

Walter Whyte scored 15 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the foul line and grabbed seven rebounds for BU (12-10, 8-3 Patriot League).

Andre Walker led Loyola (7-15, 5-6) with 15 points and Chuck Champion scored 12. The two combined to shoot 11 of 32.
