DeWane, Air Force beat NAIA Johnson & Wales (CO) 111-68

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Jonathan DeWane scored a career-high 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting to help Air Force beat NAIA Johnson & Wales (CO) 111-68 on Friday.

DeWane, a sophomore forward, came in with 19 career points. Frank Toohey, Lavelle Scottie and Keaton Van Soelen had 12 points apiece for Air Force (6-6). The Falcons, who snapped a three-game skid, had 18 players score.

Toohey made a layup and then a short jumper to give Air Force a 10-6 lead and Wildcats trailed the rest of the way. Van Soelen hit a 3 to spark a 20-0 run that made it 34-11 about 11 minutes in. Van Soelen scored eight points, while Johnson & Wales committed five turnovers and was 0-for-3 shooting, during that span.

Jontrell Herman had 19 points, Andrew Romero III added 16 and Bryson Sharpley scored 13 for Johnson & Wales.

Air Force scored 62 first-half points, the second most in school history and most since setting its record of 64 against Doane on Nov. 22, 1997.

The Falcons finished shooting a season-high 61 percent from the field, tied their season best with 11 3-pointers and outrebounded the Wildcats 46-21.
