Oni's 26 points help lift Yale past Columbia 83-73

NEW YORK -- Miye Oni scored 26 points with nine rebounds and eight assists, Blake Reynolds scored 17 points and Yale defeated Columbia 83-73 on Saturday night.

After Mike Smith scored six straight to bring Columbia within 71-66 with 3:52 left, Yale (14-14, 7-5 Ivy) made all eight of its foul shots and the Lions shot 2 of 9 the rest of the way. Yale led 37-27 at halftime and maintained the lead the entire second half.

Trey Phills scored 16 for Yale as the Bulldogs made all 17 of their free throws and Oni made 10. Yale finished 30-of-61 shooting from the field and committed just nine turnovers.

Smith led Columbia (8-17, 5-7) with 21 points, Nate Hickman scored 17, Kyle Castlin, 12 and Lukas Meisner 11 with 13 rebounds. Columbia had a 44-30 rebounding advantage and secured 18 on the offensive end.
