Oni hits 5 3s in Yale's 88-84 win over Columbia

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Miye Oni made five 3-pointers in scoring 17 points and Yale defeated Columbia 88-84 on Friday night to snap a two-game skid.

Oni was 5 of 9 from the arc along with collecting six assists. Trey Phills and Azar Swain added 14 points each, and Blake Reynolds and Alex Copeland 11 apiece for Yale (10-13, 3-4 Ivy League).

Gabe Stefanini made all three of his 3-point shots and scored 17 points to lead the Lions (6-14, 3-4), who had a two-game win streak end. Lukas Meisner added 15 points and 10 rebounds, Quinton Adlesh scored 12 points and Mike Smith had 11.

Columbia led 47-45 at halftime but Reynolds hit a 3-pointer in the opening minute of the second half and the Bulldogs built an 11-point lead.

Smith got Columbia within two points twice in the final 18 seconds with baskets but Copeland answered each time with a pair of free throws.

Both teams shot over 50 percent. Yale made 14 3-pointers and Columbia 11.
