Lyles with 21 as UMBC rolls to 81-60 win over Delaware St.

DOVER, Del. -- Jairus Lyles scored 21 points with four rebounds, six assists and three steals and UMBC rolled to an 81-60 win over Delaware State on Wednesday night.

Lyles was 5 of 9 from 3-point range, and Arkel Lamar and K.J. Maura added 15 points apiece and Joe Sherburne had 10 for UMBC (6-4).

The Retrievers trailed 40-35 at halftime but opened the second half on a 15-3 run capped by Maura's 3-pointer to lead 50-43 with 15:36 left. A hail of 3-pointers followed with Lyles sinking two, Maura sinking three more and Sherburne and Brandon Horvath adding one apiece.

UMBC was 16 of 33 (48.5 percent) from behind the arc and outscored the Hornets 46-20 after intermission.

Jonathan Walker scored a career-high 21 points a tied a career high with six assists to lead Delaware State (2-8), owners of a four-game slide and winless against Division I teams this season.
