Tolbert scores 26, Sacramento St. beats Portland St. 71-61

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Jordan Tolbert scored a career-high 26 points and Sacramento State beat Portland State 71-61 on Saturday for its first Big Sky Conference win on the road.

Justin Strings and Joshua Patton each added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Hornets (6-15, 3-5), who snapped a 10-game losing skid away from home dating to last season.

Sacramento State, which rallied from 16 points down to beat Portland State (13-8, 3-5) 80-75 in the conference opener on Dec. 30, pulled away with a 15-4 run for a 12-point lead with 2:01 remaining. Strings scored seven points during the surge, include a 3-point play off a dunk.

Bryce Canda had 19 points to lead the Vikings, who missed 18 shots from long range and finished 22-of-64 (34 percent) shooting from the field. Portland State entered the game scoring a conference-best 89.3 points per game.
