Oguine's 39 lifts Montana past Portland State 92-89

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Michael Oguine 24 of his career-high 39 points in the second half and Montana made 8 of 10 free throws in the final minute to remain on top of the Big Sky Conference with a 92-89 win over Portland State on Saturday.

Ahmaad Rorie added 16 points and Fabijan Krslovic 15 for the Grizzlies (13-5, 6-0), who have won eight of nine. Oguine went 12 of 17 from the field, including 3 of 5 behind the arc, and 12 of 16 from the foul line as Montana shot 55 percent and made 33 of 47 free throws.

Down 48-42 at the half, Montana quickly erased that and then took a 64-56 lead with 11 straight points, six from Oguine. The Vikings cut the deficit to two before Oguine had seven in an 11-2 run that made it 79-66 after Oguine's 3 with 5:34 to go.

Portland State (12-6, 2-3) answered with seven straight as Ryan Edwards and Derek Brown made 3-point plays and then closed to 84-83 on a free throw by Deontae North at the 1:12 mark. But the Grizzlies made their foul shots and PSU's only two misses in their last nine shots proved costly.

North finished with 18 points, Bryce Canda 17 and Holland Woods 16 for the Vikings.
