Much scores career-high 32 in Iona's 84-65 win

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Deyshonee Much scored a career-high 32 points to lead Iona to an 84-65 victory over Fairfield on Sunday.

Much sank a season-high six 3-pointers on 10 attempts, made all eight of his free throws and contributed seven assists and six rebounds.

Leading 67-60, Iona (9-7, 3-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) finished the final six minutes on 17-5 run with eight points from Much.

Much had a pair of baskets to start a 17-5 spurt, which included consecutive 3-pointers from Schadrac Casimir, to extend the Gaels' lead to 15 with 13 minutes left.

TK Edogi's dunk with 3 1/2 minutes remaining in the first half gave Iona the lead for good with the Gaels leading 37-34 at the break. Much led the way with five of Iona's eight 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes.

Rickey McGill added 13 points and seven assists, Edogi and Casimir had 11 points each and Jan Svandrlik 10 for the Gaels, who made 14 of 32 from the arc and had 21 assists on 25 field goals. Edogi also grabbed 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double this season.

Tyler Nelson scored 16 points, Ferron Flavors Jr. 13 and Jonathan Kasibabu 10 for the Stags (6-9, 1-3), who have lost three straight.
