Lafayette eases past Quinnipiac behind Klinewski's 26

EASTON, Pa. -- Matt Klinewski scored 26 points, making all 13 of his free throws, and Lafayette eased past Quinnipiac 79-58 on Saturday to end a six-game skid.

Justin Jaworski scored 19 and E.J. Stephens added 18 for the Leopards (1-6), who made 27 of 29 free throws to the Bobcats 14 makes in the first-ever meeting of the teams.

Jaworski's go-ahead layup and 3-pointer sparked a 13-2 run and Lafayette led 42-32 early in the second half. Klinewski scored six straight and the Leopards were up by 12 with 12:57 left. The Bobcats closed to 56-48 on Andrew Robinson's 3 and a free throw, but Klinewski's layup sparked a late 9-0 run and Lafayette led by double digits the rest of the way.

Quinnipiac led 30-29 at halftime behind seven points apiece from Cameron Young and Chaise Daniels after holding the Leopards to 30.8 percent shooting from the floor.

Daniels scored 12 and Young 11 for Quinnipiac (2-6).
