LIU Brooklyn beats Bryant 83-79 behind Hernandez, Clark

NEW YORK -- Joel Hernandez scored five of his 22 points in the final 2:16 and LIU Brooklyn rallied late to beat Bryant 83-79 on Thursday night to win its third straight.

Trailing by five at halftime, Bryant scored six straight points and led 73-68 on Hunter Ware's jumper with 4:08 left, but the Blackbirds tied it at 75 on Hernandez's free throw after a 7-2 run. Hernandez's layup tied it at 77, Julian Batts hit a go-ahead free throw, and Hernandez's dunk with 4 seconds left capped an 8-0 run for an 83-77 lead.

Batt's layup tied it at 34 and Jashaun Agosto's layup capped a 7-0 run for a 41-36 Blackbirds lead at halftime.

Raiquan Clark scored 21 points, Agosto added 18 and Batts 17 for the Blackbirds (9-11, 4-3 Northeast Conference), who shot 54.5 percent from the floor and made 12 3-pointers.

Adam Grant scored 20 points with five 3-pointers for the Bulldogs (2-18, 1-6), who hit 12 3-pointers and shot 47 percent from the field. Bosko Kostur and Ikenna Ndugba added 14 points apiece with Ndugba making eight assists, and Monty Urmilevicius had 10 points.
