Charleston cruises in 82-66 win over Northeastern

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Jarrell Brantley scored 22 points and Charleston cruised to an 82-66 victory over Northeastern on Thursday night.

Charleston (12-5, 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association) took the lead for good midway through the first half and built a 10-point halftime advantage. Northeastern (10-7, 3-2) cut the deficit to six points early in the second, but Joe Chealey hit a 3-pointer during a 7-0 spurt and Charleston led by double digits for nearly the rest of the way.

Brantley made 9 of 15 field goals, and has reached double-digit scoring in five straight games. Chealey added 16 points , and Jaylen McManus made all five of his field goals and both free throws to chip in 12 points.

The Cougars shot 60 percent from the field and were 7-of-15 shooting from long range.

Vasa Pusica had 15 points and Bolden Brace had 13 to lead Northeastern.
