Western Michigan dominates 2nd half, beats E. Michigan 71-57

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Brandon Johnson had 14 points with Bryce Moore and Reggie Jones adding 11 apiece as Western Michigan dominated the second half for a 71-57 win over Eastern Michigan on Tuesday night.

Johnson was 6 of 11 from the floor while grabbing eight rebounds as Western Michigan (13-9, 5-4 Mid-American Conference) won at Eastern for the first time since 2011. Jones dished out three assists with two steals. Thomas Wilder added 10 points with four rebounds and four steals as the Broncos swiped the ball 11 times.

Eastern Michigan held a 21-20 halftime advantage. James Thompson IV had a layup and Malik Ellison nailed a 3-pointer for a 26-23 lead.

Wilder responded with a 3-point play, Johnson added a layup and Jones drained consecutive 3-pointers for a 34-26 lead that the Broncos pushed to 56-35 with 7:40 remaining in the game.

The Eagles (12-10, 3-6), who have lost three of their last four games, could not slow the second-half assault.

Thompson led Eastern Michigan with 24 points and 18 rebounds.
