Gilmore has double-double, SF Austin rolls to 22nd win

SAN ANTONIO -- Leon Gilmore III had 22 points and 11 rebounds as Stephen F. Austin took an early lead and coasted to an 81-70 win over Incarnate Word on Saturday to keep the Cardinals winless in Southland Conference action.

Kevon Harris, who has hit 47 percent of his long-range shots this season, continued to bomb away, making 4 of 8 to total 22 points. He has drained 50 for the season. Shannon Bogues nailed 5 of 8 from beyond the arc for 19 points as the Lumberjacks drilled 9 of 19 from long range to improve on its season average of 37 percent.

Stephen F. Austin (22-5, 11-3), which has won four straight, continues to trail Nicholls and Southeastern Louisiana in the league standings.

The Lumberjacks sprinted to a 39-20 halftime advantage before Incarnate Word rallied, outscoring SFA 21-8 to start the second period to close to 47-41 at the 12:17 mark. The Lumberjacks stretched the margin back to 13 following a Harris trey and cruised home.

Shawn Johnson had 23 points and Sam Burmeister added 18 for Incarnate Word (5-19, 0-14).
