Balanced scoring attack helps Lumberjacks escape with win

LAKE CHARLES, La. -- Kevon Harris and Shannon Bogues scored 18 points each as Stephen F. Austin held off McNeese 99-95 on Thursday night.

Leon Gilmore III had a double-double for the Lumberjacks (19-5, 8-3 Southland Conference) with 14 points and 10 rebounds, Aaron Augustin added a career-high 13 points, and TJ Holyfield had 12.

The Lumberjacks put up 56 points and held a 24 point lead at the break, but McNeese stormed back in the second half, closing the margin to 89-81 with three minutes left. The Cowboys (8-13, 5-6) closed the game on a 14-10 run, but their rally fell just short.

Both teams shot better than 52 percent for the game, but the Lumberjacks' reserves outscored Cowboys' bench 48-22.

James Harvey scored 23 for the Cowboys, Jarren Greenwood nearly had a triple-double with 21 points, eight boards, and eight assists, and Quatarrius Wilson added 14 points and 14 boards.
