Nicholls rallies to beat Abilene Christian 69-65

ABILENE, Texas -- Roddy Peters and Jahvaughn Powell scored 18 points apiece, Lafayette Rutledge added 12 points on four 3s, and Southland Conference leader Nicholls rallied in the second half to beat Abilene Christian 69-65 on Wednesday night.

Powell hit a go-ahead 3 amid a 10-0 run for a 45-40 Nicholls lead, Rutledge's back-to-back 3s made it 51-47, and Rutledge's 3 capped an 11-0 run for a 63-49 lead with 9:15 left. The Wildcats closed to 63-61 after a 12-0 run, but Peters scored four straight points and Nicholls finished on a 6-3 run.

Kimani Jackson scored 11 points with 12 rebounds for the Colonels (15-9, 9-2), who outscored the Wildcats 41-31 in the paint. Powell and Rutledge combined for eight of the Colonels' nine 3-pointers.

Jaren Lewis had 18 points and a career-high 20 rebounds for Abilene Christian (14-11, 6-6), which was 3 of 21 from distance. Jaylen Franklin scored 17, Tevin Foster 11 and Jalone Friday 10.
