Sam Houston State cruises past Houston Baptist 81-68

HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- Marcus Harris scored a career-best 27 points and Sam Houston State cruised past Houston Baptist 81-68 on Saturday night.

Christopher Galbreath Jr. added 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Bearkats (10-8, 4-1 Southland) who are on a four-game win streak. John Dewey III and Albert Almanza had nine points apiece.

Sam Houston State took an early first-half lead and held it. Almanza, Harris and Delaney combined for five 3-pointers in the final four minutes to help build to a 39-33 advantage at the break.

Houston Baptist tied it 39-all briefly early in the second half but the Bearkats took off from there, with Dewey sinking a 3-pointer and Jamal Williams following with a layup to help make it 50-39 with 14:20 to play. Later, Galbreath drained back-to-back 3s to stretch it to 73-54 and the Bearkats cruised from there.

Oliver Lynch-Daniels scored 20 for the Huskies (4-14, 0-5), who have lost seven straight and are winless in conference.
