Wilks scores winner as Grambling fights past SE Louisiana

HAMMOND, La. -- A jumper by Drake Wilks capped a frantic final possession that saw Grambling take three shots and defeat Southeastern Louisiana 68-67 on Saturday after coming from 12 points down late in the game.

James Currington scored to give the Lions a 67-63 lead with 48 seconds remaining and Grambling took over from there. Anthony Gaston drained a 3-pointer to make it 67-66, Shirmane Thomas stole the ball and Grambling called time to set up the final 15 seconds.

DeVante Jackson missed but Wilks controlled the board, put the ball back up, missed and grabbed the rebound again before hitting winner with 3.6 seconds on the clock. It was the only lead of the game for the Tigers (4-7) who trailed 46-27 at halftime and 59-47 with 6:31 to play.

Gaston led Grambling with 18 points and three steals, Jackson had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Ivy Smith Jr. scored 13 and Wilks scored eight.

Joshua Filmore led the Lions (6-5) with 16 points, Jabbar Singleton and Currington scored 11 each.
