Bradford's layup lifts ETSU over Furman 62-61

Men's College Basketball, Furman Paladins, East Tennessee State Buccaneers

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Desonta Bradford scored 12 points, including the winning layup with 4 seconds left, and East Tennessee State beat Furman 62-61 on Thursday night to win its ninth straight game, their longest win streak under coach Steve Forbes.

Jalan McCloud scored 12 points with six assists and David Burrell added 11 points for the Buccaneers (15-4, 6-0 Southern Conference), who shot 40 percent from the floor in a game that featured 12 lead changes and four ties.

McCloud tied it at 57 with a layup and the lead traded hands three times in the final 4:40 before Andrew Brown's layup put Furman up 61-60 with 20 seconds left. ETSU called a timeout and Bradford scored on the next possession. Furman's Daniel Fowler missed a 3 at the buzzer.

Furman led 17-11 on Jordan Lyons' 3-pointer, but McCloud's 3-point play sparked a 13-1 run capped by Burrell's 3 and the Buccaneers led 34-27 at halftime.

Matt Rafferty scored 13 points with eight rebounds, John Davis III and Fowler added 12 points apiece and Devin Sibley scored 11 for the Paladins (13-6, 4-2).
