Daum, Jenkins help South Dakota State beat Denver 94-72

BROOKING, S.D. -- Mike Daum made 10 of 14 from the field and finished with 34 points and David Jenkins Jr. scored 27 points on 8-of-14 shooting to help South Dakota State beat Denver 94-72 on Saturday.

Daum and Jenkins combined to make 8 of 14 from the arc, as the Jackrabbits hit 12 of 27. Reed Tellinghuisen added 11 points for South Dakota State (16-5, 4-0 Summit League), which has won seven in a row and nine of its last 10. Tellinghuisen hit two 3s to move past Austin Hansen (1999-2003) into second on the school's career list with 236.

Jenkins hit a 3 to open the scoring and the Jackrabbits never trailed. Skyler Flatten hit a 3 to cap an 8-0 run that gave South Dakota State an 11-point lead just more than six minutes in, and Daum scored six points in a 9-2 spurt that made it 24-8 with nine minutes left in the half. Denver (7-11, 1-3), which missed 11 of its first 14 field-goal attempts, trailed by double figures the rest of the way.

Joe Rosga had 19 points, Daniel Amigo scored 17 and Ade Murkey 15 for the Pioneers.
