Expert picks for the Fort Worth Invitational

Adam Hadwin's style of play is a good fit this week in Texas. John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The PGA Tour remains in Texas another week as it heads to the Colonial Country Club for the Fort Worth Invitational.

Our ESPN and FantasyGolfInsider experts have laid out the players they believe have the skills to succeed and provide big fantasy point totals.

Pick to win

Adam Scott

On a mission to qualify for the U.S. Open, Scott posted his first top-10 in nearly a year at the Byron Nelson, where he hit every green in regulation on Sunday and shot 65. Clearly the long game is solid, and if he can just get a few more putts to drop. ... Scott won at Colonial in 2014. -- Bob Harig

Jordan Spieth

Since 2013 (5 starts), Spieth is -52 at this event. In second place behind him in the same time span is Kevin Kisner at -25! Look up the term "Horse for the Course" under Colonial and there had better be a picture of Jordan Spieth. The past three Sundays Jordan has played in this event he's shot a 65. That's gotten him two runner-ups and a win (2016). Expect more of the same from "The Golden Child" at what's becoming his golf course in Texas. (No disrespect to Ben Hogan). -- Michael Collins

DraftKings value picks

Adam Hadwin

Hadwin's ball-striking has been pretty typical, and when looking at his small history here, as well as the profiles of previous winners, I could see Hadwin being a strong play this week. It's tough to gauge how popular of a pick he will be, but if he's sub-10% I think he makes for an excellent value play in all formats. -- Taras Pitra

Steve Stricker

Stricker ranks No. 9 in our model this week and he is only priced at $7.900, which is an extremely good value. He has not only been playing well on the Champions Tour, but also in his select appearances on the PGA Tour as well. He has posted top-35 finishes in four of his past five tournaments, including a T23 at The Players Championship two weeks ago. Stricker won this event back in 2009 and has made the cut in each of his past three appearances with a T7 last year. I think Sticker fits well in cash games and also GPPs this week, due to his price. -- Jeff Bergerson

Scott Piercy

On a course where birdies are tough to come by that has small greens, targeting one of the best irons players makes a lot of sense, and Piercy is that in spades: second in excellent approach game, very strong with his mid-range iron play, and a strong proximity game paints a very nice picture. A good fit for a par-70 course -- thanks to having to compete on only two par-5s -- Piercy picks up birdie on well under half of par-5s -- the Nevada native has the most success on par-4s, ranking T13 in Par-4 Scoring. The problem with Piercy is his putter, as he's losing strokes/event with his flatstick, and he rarely converts one-putts. With the small greens, expect a lot of the other golfers to flat-out miss a good percentage of the greens, which is where Piercy can make up the ground that he loses with his putter. In 13 events this year, Piercy has picked up a top-25 in seven, including two top-10s, and has missed four cuts. He finished T7 here last year and a T67 in 2016. -- Adam Daly

FanDuel value picks

Brian Harman

We're going back to the poor-form well this week after Kevin Na came through last week, but outside of a couple of rough weeks, Harman has been very good this season. He's accurate off the tee, hits greens and is always one of the better putters on tour. Colonial has been a great course for him in recent years; he has made four straight cuts with three straight Top-25 finishes. -- Zach Turcotte

Chesson Hadley

Hadley returns to the Colonial Country Club for the Fort Worth Invitational after finishing T11 in THE PLAYERS Championship his last time out. That finish continues a run of top 20s that dates back to the Houston Open in late March. It goes without saying that he is a much improved golfer this time around on the PGA Tour after spending last season on the Web.com Tour. Hadley's approach game is a big reason for that and will surely benefit him in the Fort Worth Invitational. The Colonial Country Club requires that you land the ball close to the pin and sink putts if you want to contend and he can do just that. A T24 finish in this event back in 2015 also shows that Hadley can successfully navigate his way here when his complete game is in order. His $9,900 FanDuel salary this week is a great mid-range value play that offers the likelihood of finishing points with the upside to win. -- Erik Dantoft
