Pick to win
It is hard to pick against the hometown favorite, even with his putting woes of late and relatively indifferent 2018 season. Spieth, who first played in the Byron Nelson as a 16-year-old, is one of the few who will have any familiarity with Trinity Forest, the new venue for the event this year. It is where Spieth spends a good bit of his time practicing and playing, and it should give him an advantage on an unusual layout. -- Bob Harig

Mitchell has taken advantage of every opportunity he's seen this season and has made early tournament splashes, only to fizzle on the weekend -- and last week was no exception. However, if he continues his strong early round play, he'll make cuts, making him a strong cash game play going forward and someone who should eventually pay off in GPPs. -- Taras Pitra
A less-than-loaded field is going to force us to find the diamonds in the rough this week. Look no further than Laird, who is putting together a pretty nice season, having missed only one cut in the past three months and posting some nice finishes, including a T-11 a couple weeks ago at the Valero Texas Open. Laird is good around the greens, which will be necessary on the links-style course of Trinity Forest. I would be comfortable locking in Laird for cash games and GPPs. -- Jeff Bergerson
An Aussie who has had some success in the past at links courses (T-23 at Pinehurst in 2014, T-27 at Royal Birkdale last year) should feel right at home at Trinity Forest. He's one of the worst on Tour off the tee, but he's incredibly strong with a wedge or putter in his hand. He's having a poor year on the greens, but historically, that's his best feature, so expect that to come back to form ... especially on slow greens. He's good on par-4s, and on a par-71 with 11 par-4s, that should be a focus this week. -- Adam Daly

The field for this event is relatively soft, and we are going to need to find a few undervalued plays in order to find room for the expensive stars. That means we will need to take some chances on good players who have not quite lived up to expectations this season. Na is typically one of the best second-shot players on tour, and though he hasn't been quite as strong in that area this season, he still ranks really well for the most part in his midrange approach game from 150-200 yards. He's accurate off the tee and still reliable with his putter, and at just $9,000, he's well below the average salary for the week. -- Zach Turcotte
Wise is in a great spot this week after his T-2 finish in the Wells Fargo Championship a couple of weeks ago. His game at the Quail Hollow Club kept him tied with Jason Day until the final three holes, and if he can continue that kind of play, he should easily find himself in contention again this week in a much weaker field. Scoring will be necessary on the new Trinity Forest Golf Club, and Wise is a field leader in the Birdie Or Better Percentage statistic. His $8,700 FanDuel salary offers plenty of value along with the upside for finishing points, so pairing him with a top-tier golfer is a great way to start your lineup. -- Erik Dantoft
