Javier Hernandez not 100 percent fit yet - West Ham assistant Jurcevic

West Ham assistant manager Nikola Jurcevic has said new signing Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez is not yet fully fit but will become "a really important player" for the club.

Hernandez completed a move from Bayer Leverkusen last month, with the striker -- who spent five years on the books at Manchester United -- having entered the final year of his contract with the Bundesliga club.

He scored 59 goals in 157 appearances for United before moving to Leverkusen, where he netted 39 times in 76 games.

Mexico international Hernandez played 20 minutes of a 3-3 friendly draw with Altona 93 in Hamburg, coming close to scoring twice.

And Jurcevic told West Ham's official website: "He was a plus point from this game.

"He spent a few days with us and played about 20 minutes, which was very important for him to feel how he will play with West Ham United.

"In this moment he is not 100 percent physically fit, but he is working hard and for him it was very important for him to play 20 minutes.

"He showed in that short time that he is a very different offensive player. He likes to have the ball in space, he is always on the offside line and I think he will be a really important player for us."
