Aron Johannsson back in contention for Bremen after Achilles injury

U.S. international attacker Aron Johannsson is set to return from injury when Werder Bremen host Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

Johannsson, 27, spent some of the international break in Iceland, where he was receiving treatment for an Achilles tendon problem.

He has returned to the Werder squad under head coach Florian Kohfeldt, making eight Bundesliga appearances in the 10 games this calendar year.

He was back in training on Tuesday and will be an option for Sunday's clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.

"There are no problems with Aron looking ahead to Sunday," Bremen sporting director Frank Bauman told reporters.

Bremen are 12th in Bundesliga, eight points clear of the relegation playoff place and just six behind seventh-placed Hoffenheim after taking 18 points from 10 matches.
