U.S. team veterans John Brooks, Fabian Johnson score in Bundeliga action

United States internationals John Brooks and Fabian Johnson both scored in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Brooks' first goal since joining Wolfsburg last year paved the way for a 2-1 win against Schalke. The American defender, who had a frustrating first season at the Volkswagen-backed club due to injury, met Maximilian Arnold's corner with a powerful header in his 100th appearance in the league.

The 25-year-old also hit the post in the second half, but then gave away a late penalty for a dangerous challenge on Schalke's Breel Embolo. Nabil Bentaleb equalized from the spot before Daniel Ginczek claimed Wolfsburg's winner in injury time.

Brooks became the sixth U.S. international to play in 100 Bundesliga games, joining Johnson, Steve Cherundolo, Thomas Dooley, Timothy Chandler and Jermaine Jones.

Johnson helped Borussia Moenchengladbach beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-0, scoring the second goal after playing a one-two with Raffael.

Johnson's goal was his 18th in the Bundesliga, bringing him within two of Dooley's record for the most by a U.S. international.
