Dortmund rally from 3-0 down to win; Athletic Bilbao lose in Europa League

Borussia Dortmund rallied from a shocking three-goal deficit to win 4-3 at Odd Grenland in the Europa League playoff round first leg on Thursday.

Jone Samuelsen scored after just 13 seconds for the Norweigan side, with Fredrik Nordkvelle doubling the advantage on 19 minutes.

A free kick by Espen Ruud three minutes later gave Odd a 3-0 lead before Dortmund -- playing without star Marco Reus -- were able to regroup.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang started the comeback by scoring on a rebound in the 34th minute to make it 3-1 at the break.

Shinji Kagawa scored on a volley two minutes into the second half to cut the deficit to one and Aubameyang equalised in the 76th minute.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan found the winner with a header six minutes from time to give the German side a hard-fought advantage entering their return leg.

Athletic Bilbao followed up their famous victory over Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup with a 3-2 loss at MSK Zilina.

The La Liga side raced out to a 2-0 half-time lead through Sabin and Kike Sola. But second-half goals from Jakub Paur and a late Willian brace secured the Slovakians the slim advantage heading back to Spain.

Southampton could only manage a 1-1 draw with Midtjylland at St Mary's.

Saints Academy graduate Tim Sparv made his old club pay with a 45th-minute opener, and the Premier League side could only respond with a Jay Rodriguez penalty after James Ward-Prowse drew a foul in the box.

Southampton will head to Denmark knowing only a victory in the second leg will allow them to reach the group stage.

Robin van Persie scored a dramatic late winner to give his new club Fenerbahce a 1-0 win away to Atromitos.

The Turkish giants were held without a goal in Greece before Van Persie opened his account with a strong header from 10 yards out in the 89th minute.

Standard Liege fell to a 2-0 defeat to Molde in Norway.

Tommy Hoiland and Mohammed Elyounoussi scored less than five minutes apart in the first half and the Belgian side could not find a response.

St Etienne could only manage a 1-1 draw with Milsami on their trip to Moldova.

Romain Hamouma gave the French club the lead five minutes before half-time but Cristian Bud equalised for the hosts 10 minutes after the break.

Wahbi Khazri's goal in the 27th minute was all Bordeaux needed to defeat Kairat Almaty 1-0.

Fresh off their defeat of West Ham in the previous round, FC Astra used a late first-half flurry of goals to defeat AZ Alkmaar 3-2.

Despite early AZ goals from Markus Henriksen and Vincent Janssen, strikes from Fernando Boldrin, Denis Alibec and Alexandru Dandea cancelled out the Dutch side's advantage to give the hosts a rousing win in Romania.

Arkadiusz Milik's second-half penalty was the difference as Ajax topped Jablonec 1-0 in Amsterdam.

Vit Benes fouled Davy Klaassen in the box, prompting the referee to award the hosts a penalty, which Milik stepped up and converted in the 54th minute.

Rubin Kazan were pegged back to a 1-1 draw at Macedonian side Rabotnicki Kometal, Kire Ristevski's 85th-minute equaliser cancelling out Karadeniz Gokdeniz's opener.
