Paris Saint-Germain send own bus to Madrid as 'a symbol' for Real tie

PARIS -- Paris Saint-Germain have sent their own bus to Madrid to transport their players for Wednesday's Champions League first leg game against Real Madrid.

PSG players and staff, who will arrive in Madrid by air on Tuesday, will board their bus which will take them between the airport, their hotel and the Bernabeu.

The bus will make a 2,600-kilometre round trip from Paris, requiring two drivers to alternate shifts, and the Ligue leaders told L'Equipe the decision to send it to Madrid had been symbolic.

"PSG have reached new dimensions," a statement said. "We are now at the same level as the biggest European clubs.

"This bus is a symbol. It is part of the club's identity but bringing it with us is also a question of comfort and the benefits offered inside the bus, as well as security considerations."

PSG also sent the bus to Champions League ties at Celtic, Anderlecht and Bayern Munich in the group stage.
