Tottenham to face Barcelona, Roma and AC Milan in International Champions Cup

Tottenham Hotspur will return to the United States to play Barcelona, Roma and AC Milan in the International Champions Cup this summer.

As part of the U.S. leg of the preseason competition, Spurs will play Champions League semifinalists Roma at SDCCU Stadium in San Diego, California, on July 25 before facing La Liga champions-elect Barcelona in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, three days later.

They finish a second summer trip to the U.S. in as many years against Milan at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on July 31.

With the World Cup in Russia scheduled to end on July 15, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino may decide to leave players involved in the competition in London -- just as he did for Spurs' preseason trip to Melbourne, Australia, following Euro 2016.

Spurs played Paris Saint-Germain, Roma and Manchester City in three locations across the U.S. last summer and the American market is particularly important for the club, with Spurs' new £850 million stadium designed to host NFL games.

"This summer's tour will be the sixth time in nine years that we have toured the U.S. and we are all excited to be returning again later this year," Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said. "Our following in North America has grown considerably during this time with the number of official supporters' clubs alone more than quadrupling.

"We are grateful to have such strong support in the U.S. and we are fully aware of the sacrifices they make to watch us play at any hour of the day. We look forward to showing them our appreciation when we visit this summer. The 2018-19 season is set to be a historic one for our club with the opening of our new world-class stadium and this tour will provide the ideal preparation for Mauricio and the team."

Spurs had hoped to stage a full-capacity glamour friendly at their new 61,500-seat home, due to be ready for next season, but with building work expected to run into September, that prospect seems unlikely.
