Tottenham can win Champions League this season - Lucas Moura

Lucas Moura has said he believes Tottenham Hotspur can win the Champions League this season.

Moura, 25, joined Spurs from Paris Saint-Germain last month in a £25 million move and made his full debut at Rochdale in the FA Cup on Sunday.

That came after a period of sidelines at PSG and, after scoring the first goal of a 2-2 draw, the Brazil international said: "It's difficult to explain. I'm so happy. Since August I have not started a game. I started and I score and I'm so happy, with my new team, with my new friends.

"It's too difficult for a player when we don't play. We want always to be on the pitch, to play, but in this time I worked very hard and I stayed always positive."

For all the progress made by Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino, the clamour to turn performances into a trophy is growing, with the club's most recent being a League Cup triumph in 2008.

Moura made his debut as a late substitute in the 2-2 with Juventus in Turin last week and said he could see no reason why Spurs should not target the title.

"Why not? The Champions League is the most difficult cup but I think we have the capacity to win if we always think positive, always work hard," he said.

"I think we had a big game against Juventus away. It's not easy to score in Italy. I think we had a good result and the next game I am sure that we can win.

"I think we have a lot of quality, big players, great structure, and I think we can arrive at the end of the season with a trophy.

"Every player wants to win trophies and to make history and I am here to make history and I think we can dream with the Champions League."
