Drew Moor signed a new one-year contract with Toronto FC on Friday, the club announced, with an option to remain with the MLS Cup champion in 2019. The 33-year-old center-back was out of contract after joining the Reds ahead of the 2016 season. His second season in Toronto saw him anchor one of the league's best defenses, as TFC secured a historic domestic treble, winning the Canadian Championship, the Supporters' Shield and MLS Cup. "Few words can express what it means to me and my family to continue representing Toronto FC," Moor told Toronto's website. "We have experienced a lot of special moments both on and off the field in Toronto, the club has given us so much these past two years and there is nowhere else we'd want to be. "I can't wait to get back to work with my teammates, coaches and staff ahead of the 2018 season as we defend our MLS Cup championship." Moor made 34 appearances across all competitions in 2017, scoring two goals and one assist. He's made 384 regular-season and playoff appearances with 27 goals and eight assists in 13 seasons in MLS after being selected sixth overall by FC Dallas in the 2005 SuperDraft. "Drew has been an important part of our club's successes for the past two seasons," said Toronto FC senior vice-president, soccer operations and general manager Tim Bezbatchenko. "Both sides eagerly wanted to ensure this partnership would continue beyond 2017. "He and his family chose Toronto two years ago as a free agent. We're happy they have committed to stay and that we're able to keep a man of great character as well as an important, experienced leader as we defend our championship next season."
