Carlos Carvalhal set to leave Swansea, Chris Coleman in frame - sources

Carlos Carvalhal is poised to leave Swansea after the final game of the Premier League season on Sunday, with former Wales boss Chris Coleman in the frame to replace him, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.

Swansea are on the verge of relegation from the Premier League and must beat Stoke and hope Southampton lose against Manchester City with a 10-goal swing on the final day of the season to secure an unlikely survival.

Carvalhal signed a deal until the end of the season with the option of an extension, but Swansea's hierarchy have now decided not to take up the option of extending the contract when it expires and they will look for a new man to transform their fortunes at the Liberty Stadium.

Sources have told ESPN FC that one early name in the frame for the Swansea role is Coleman, who is available after leaving Sunderland last month.

Carvalhal took over from Paul Clement at Swansea in December with the club rock bottom of the Premier League just days after being sacked by Sheffield Wednesday.

He made an impact upon his arrival as he guided them out of the bottom three after wins against Liverpool, Arsenal, Burnley and West Ham. However, Swansea's form has nosedived in recent weeks and a run of eight games without a win has left them facing almost certain relegation.
