Swansea City have not made an approach for AEK Athens manager Gus Poyet as speculation gathers that Marcelo Bielsa is the preferred replacement for Garry Monk.
The South Wales Evening Post and Wales Online have reported that Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has begun interviewing candidates to replace Monk, who was dismissed last week after winning just one of his last 13 games in charge.
Former Brighton and Sunderland boss Poyet was said to be a candidate but an AEK spokesperson told the BBC: "We have not been approached by Swansea, there is no need for us to be approached and no propositions have been made from Swansea.
"Mr Poyet is happy at the club and will be our manager at least until the end of the season."
Bielsa is now the odds-on favourite to take over the position.
The Sun reported on Tuesday that Jenkins flew to South America to hold talks with Bielsa, who is out of work after leaving Marseille in August.

The former Argentina, Chile and Athletic Bilbao boss does not speak English but The Sun reports he is open to the idea of taking charge at the Liberty Stadium.
Wales Online -- which said Bielsa has long been admired by leading figures at Swansea -- said current Chile boss Jorge Sampaoli is also being monitored amid disruption at the Chilean FA.
The South Wales Evening Post had earlier suggested Sevilla boss Unai Emery as another contender.
