Man City loan Australian Aaron Mooy to Huddersfield Town

Australian midfielder Aaron Mooy has been loaned out to Championship side Huddersfield Town a week after signing for Manchester City.

The 25-year-old joined City from their Australian sister club Melbourne City last week in a three-year deal.

He will now spend a season on loan at Huddersfield, who are managed by David Wanger -- a former coach at Borussia Dortmund under Jurgen Klopp.

"I'm delighted to join Huddersfield Town Football Club, ahead of what I'm sure will be a really exciting season and I can't wait to get started," Mooy said in a statement.

"The Championship is a really tough competition and provides me with a good challenge for the next stage of my career.

"I'm looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and to working with the boss David Wagner.

"Huddersfield are a progressive club and are an ideal fit for me to achieve my goals for the coming year."

Mooy was Melbourne City's player of the year in his two seasons at the club and is now a regular in the Australia national team.

Huddersfield boss Wagner said: "The opportunity to loan Aaron came around very quickly once his move to Manchester City and I am happy we could move quickly to do this.

"We have completed some very interesting permanent transfers, but sometimes the loan market also offers exciting quality like Aaron."

Mooy began his career at Bolton Wanderers and had a spell at Scottish club St Mirren before returning to Australia with Western Sydney.
